My boredom at home has again brought me at a juncture where I need to lift my bum and sit down to write the tale which is still untold. The tale of my 7th Semester.
The sem started with a bang.Yes,hell yes the feeling of being the super senior.Being on the top of the superiority chain at college. The balance between the inflow and outflow of the word "SIR" had been disturbed. Now it was just ME,I and MYSELF.
With starting of sem came a plethora of attached problems. These are like trojan virus in a computer, difficult to get rid of.One of the major being the problem of Placements.
Being in Department of Biotechnology,we had little or no hope. But I must tell you in advance that our dept. came out with flying colours with as many as 72% placement.(worth mentioning is the fact that almost all landed up in IT sector). But placement is a placement nevertheless.
I almost forget to accost you guys with the fact that we all had just returned after undergoing 2 months of rigorous and dedicated training at various top notch companies and institutes throughout the nation.I did my stint at AIIMS,New Delhi and fell in love with biotechnology all over again or first time should we say.So I was determined to show my dedication to the field this semester without fail. But once again how cruel is life? I came in terms with harsh reality that I was still part of the NITJ world.
Moving on,classes were ok.We did attend some, did bunk many to escape to our favorite Sukhman da dhaba.Teachers were lenient. It was our last sem with Mr.Basak.So half of the class was already in the party mood.I was not very sure though because he has been on the most dedicated teachers and inspiring too.We had one subject of HOD sir which keeping with the tradition I screwed big time.
7th Sem saw Tarun hanging out with me and shit more and more.We liked it a lot coz he is a very wise guy.Esp. I always felt him to be like a brother as his advices calmed me on lots of occasions (ok Dude I wrote what u asked me to,now how how about those 500 bucks u promised ).I got my first taste of booze this sem.(please keep those eyebrows down, mom I just tasted like a teaspoon). We had this subject Fashion Technology where we were encouraged to watch FTV and read Fashion weekly among other popular books of knowledge.
Mid of the sem saw people getting restless like anything. The good folks wanted placements in core industry and dismissed that fact that IT could serve as a savior nevertheless.
It saw numerous fights and arguments which ended like a scandal on tv.. with me resigning from PR ship thing and restoring the respect of the office of PR by making some1 else the PR.
One the interesting incident was the commotion put up by certain section when I was away in my humble abode in a far far away land called Delhi. It ended up with Tarun making fanatic calls to me about returning soon. But eventually it all ended and peace was soon restored to the department.
Another major development of the semester was Chandni and Shitansu's commitment..Though I guess what took them so long to make the same official. :-/ but never the less I guess There is a time for everything. So the love birds were more than happy in each others company and as it generally happens the world around was muted and eventually switched off.
October was without any major development.Everyday started with new speculation of certain XYZ company landing to recruit ABC branch and student getting placed etc. Here it would be worth mentioning that Saiwal Krishna ..one of my good mateys at NITJ was among the first of our batch to get placed in Shapoorji Pallonji.Though now the placement stands null and void as a M.Tech offer at IITK is at any day more lucrative .
My birthday also fell in the same sem though was a so so affair. The day ended like every birthday ends in every college anywhere in India with a booze party. Thus, making it memorable(though I wonder how ?? )
November saw finally some seriousness in T&P cell as it was time of the mass recruiters to barge in with their trucks and go back with a full load of some brilliant NIT crop.
TCS was the first one to come ... Simrat ,Yachna and Neeraj made a name for BT in this one.
The immediate next was Accenture(I love this firm, more for its name than its work though)
Arshi, nakul, happy, akshay, debashish, shitanshu and our beloved Prakashji made it to this one.
Next in line was L&T infotech which rejoiced with a rich catch of Tarun,Prince,Namita,Chandni and Ritu,Jogesh
Finally Capgemini got the final say with Harpreet and Mamta bagging in this firm.
All this time I was again away in far far land .Booze parties became a fashion.Everyday there was news of this or that happening. But all above I was happy for my ppl getting jobs which did rest their mind and soul alike.
But 7th sem is most crucial I guess.coz it fairly gives you an idea as to home many people would remain with you and home many would simply go tata bye bye.
It was however a good semester as it paved the way for the Final Semester of my college life.
the name of blog is 7th Sem Maaf because it was a sem of fights,misunderstandings..and unnecessary rifts. So it a maafi for all those things and hence the name.(plus It draws attention ;-) )
